Feature: Kinect Disneyland Adventures

Mark talks with Jennifer Yi about Kinect Disneyland Adventures and then Mike and Mark discuss the game.

This is the audio that put us off of our routine for a month or two, as the live audio did not process well and we had to kill the show before publishing. We ended up being able to salvage the interview audio and tossing the gameplay audio.

Mark and Jennifer talked a bit after playing the game, covering some of the game's details, Jennifer's favorite places to walk through and favorite games to play, and a hint of the long-term strategy for the franchise. Mark then talked a little about the lost audio from his and Jennifer's gameplay.

Mike and Mark talked about the gameplay. Mike gave his thoughts on the most fun and most annoying parts of the game, as well as his overall view of the game. Mike also gave a little information about what the entry cost would be to get up and running with an Xbox Kinect 360 in order to play the game, if you don't already have one.

At publication time, the game is currently available on Amazon.com for $37.20, compared to its list price of $49.99.

Listener Feedback

DisneyGator posted in the Avatar episode's show notes thread on the MousePad discussion forums that he's looking forward to seeing Pandora arrive at the park, but he's concerned about how long it will take to open the land. He's afraid that the anticipation will be gone by the time that it's open, and wants them to start construction immediately. Mark explained that they can't start building until the design is done, and they're really still in Blue-Sky design at this point.

IllusionOfLife also posted in the Avatar episode's show notes thread on MousePad discussion forums. It's a somewhat lengthy post that is worth taking the time to read. He's concerned that an entire land is too much to have depend on this single idea, and would rather they had decided to build just a single attraction.

We received a series of voicemails from Dean from New York City during his trip to Walt Disney World in late October, filling us in on his quest for a Doofenschmirtz shirt as well as his and his son's vote in the Nemo vs. Simba debate. Mark put forth a hypothesis as to how the debate breaks down between demographic groups, and he and Mike debated it a bit.

Drew wrote in to thank us for the show and to point out that we missed a couple of Tomorrowland attractions in the "Update It! Replace It! Change It Back!" show. This led to Mark and Mike discussing the Carousel of Progress and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Discussion included a little bit about the role that the PeopleMover was to play in Walt's vision of Epcot.

Disneyland Adventures is full of my daughters favorite thing, meeting the characters. She is 5 and she loves to dance and hug them all over and over again. My son is having a grand time with the ride games. The interaction with the characters is so much fun for her, it's a nice change of pace from so many other games. It's nice to have a game that is just fun. And Mommy (Me), I am discovering that a simple snowball fight with Yeti's is a great way to do squats and not even know it!
