Fort Wilderness

Staying in fancy hotels isn't for everybody, and for those people Disney has the Fort Wilderness campground and cabins. While expensive for a campground, the site does keep you outdoors while staying within easy reach of the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Camp activities such as marshmallow roasts, watersports, and campfire singalongs will keep you busy even when not in the parks. If sleeping on the ground is a bit too much for you, then 400 deluxe cabins are also available with their own kitchen, deck, and grills.

Owner's Locker

Transportation Information

On foot: There is a walking path that connects Fort Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge. No other destinations are within walking distance, though you will get plenty of exercise walking around the campground.

Bus: There is bus service both within the campground and to other Walt Disney World locations. Intra-resort buses connect the various campground loops to the main activity areas of the camp. Direct routes are available for Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios at Settlement Depot. Outpost Depot has busses that go to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, the water parks, and Downtown Disney. All other locations will require transferring.

Ferries: There is a ferry that connects Magic Kingdom, Fort Wilderness, Contemporary Resort, and Wilderness Lodge.

Dining

Mickey's Backyard BBQ— An all-you-can-eat picnic BBQ featuring live music, line dancing, and occasionally Disney characters.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue— Very popular dinner theater combining all you can eat country vittles with country-western entertainment including comedians, singing, and dancing.

Trail's End Restaurant— Serving home cooking as a buffet for breakfast and dinner and a table service restaurant for lunch.

Crockett's Tavern is a walk-up window (next to Pioneer Hall) with pizza, wings, and nachos as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Entertainment and Amenities

Archery – Enjoy a 90-minute archery session for $39, equipment included. Archery guides are on hand to provide instruction and advice.
Bike Barn – Bike Barn is the central location for equipment rental at Fort Wilderness. In addition to camping equipment and golf carts for transportation, you can also rent bicycles, watercraft, and fishing equipment.
Boat Rental – Small and large boats available.
Canoe and Kayak Rental – Available at the Bike Barn.
Campfire Program – The nightly campfire program is open to all Walt Disney World resort guests. The evening starts with a sing-along and marshmallow roasting along with a visit by Chip & Dale. The evening concludes with an outdoor screening of a Disney movie.
Electrical Water Pageant – The nightly show of light-decorated barges on Bay Lake is visible from the Fort Wilderness beach and marina.
Fishing – Catch and release is available at designated dockside locations. Poles may be rented at the Bike Barn. Fishing excursions on the lake may be booked for a fee.
Tri-Circle D Ranch – Visit the horses who do the work around the resort, including those who pull the trolleys on Main Street. Guided horse tours are available throughout the day. The cost is $46 per person and riders must be at least 9 years old. Pony rides are available for younger guests.
Wagon and Carriage Rides – Wagon rides are offered in the evenings for $5 per child and $8 per adult; carriage rides are offered during the day for $45. Holiday sleigh rides are $79

Other entertainment: The campground has two arcades (Davy Crockett Arcade and Daniel Boone Arcade). Sport activities include volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, and shuffleboard.
