Disney Springs

Disney Springs is a large shopping, dining, and entertainment complex that Disney hopes will keep guests from leaving property at night when the parks are closed and also draw in some extra dollars from locals. It is broken up into four areas: Westside, Marketplace, The Landing and Town Center.

Marketplace has a mix of restaurants and stores that lean heavily towards Disney shopping heaven. If you can imagine a Disney image or logo on something, odds are you can find it at one of the Disney stores in Marketplace.

Westside is a more generic mall-type experience with larger buildings housing restaurants, chain stores, and some interesting little novelty shops. It is also home to the long running Cirque du Soleil show, La Nouba.

The Landing and Town Center fall in the middle, and are the site of most of the recent construction.

History and Trivia

Originally opened in 1975 as Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village.
Changed name from Downtown Disney in 2015
The area now occupied by The Landing and Town Center was once called Pleasure Island. It was sold as a separate admission in the evenings for access to various clubs and lounges, including the Adventurers' Club.
