World Showcase - Norway

The Norway pavilion has a lot to enjoy, including a church, a Viking ship, and a popular boat ride, a statue of a famous marathoner, and a few trolls. A replica of the Stave Church from Oslo, Norway and located at the entrance to the pavilion, offers a cool respite in the summer heat. To the side of Stave Church is a statue of famed Norwegian marathoner Grete Waitz. The Maestrom boat attraction takes you on a tour that travels from present-day Norway back in time to the days of the Viking.

There's more to Norwegian food than pickled herring; enjoy a buffet at Restaurant Akershus and spend some time learning about the dishes from the servers, who are all from Norway.

History and Trivia

At this location: This piece of World Showcase remained unused until Norway became the second (and last) pavilion to open after Epcot, on May 6, 1988.
Other Trivia:
- The runner: There is a statue of Greta Waitz outside of the Stave Church. Greta Waitz is a famous Norwegian marathoner and won the New York City Marathon nine times, no other woman has won more than twice.
