History and Trivia

  • At this location: This location has been in use since the park opened in 1955. The first resident was Rocket to the Moon, which later became Flight to the Moon before being updated to Mission to Mars in 1975. In its early years it was sponsored by TWA (until 1961) and then McDonnell Douglas (until 1966). Mission to Mars lasted until 1992 when it finally closed and joined the America Sings theater in disuse until the New Tomorrowland of 1998 when Redd Rockett's Pizza Port opened.
