Time Commitment

Open/Close: Opens and closes with the park. This attraction is open during both morning and evening Extra Magic Hours.

Wait Times: Standby lines can be very long and are shortest earlier in the day. Use of FastPass unless there is no line is strongly recommended. The close proximity of Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster makes them an ideal combination for getting a FastPass to one and waiting in line for the other.

Length of Ride: 90 seconds

FastPass: Yes

Single Rider: Yes

Queue Description: The external queue has no theming and is just a chain corral. Once inside the theme is a record label office and vintage concert posters line the walls. The pre-show is done in a large room to observe a recording studio and then the final queue is the alley out back where you catch the limousine to the concert.

Access Information

Health Restriction: This is an extreme roller coaster with sudden acceleration, deceleration, and inversions (three of them). Guests with known health problems or a tendency to motion sickness should not ride.

Ride Access: The entire queue is wheelchair accessible but ECV users will need to transfer to a wheelchair. There is a long ramp used for access to the pre-show area.

Wheelchair Transfer: Guests must transfer from wheelchairs into the ride vehicles. Let the attending cast member know and a vehicle will be held up for you to load.

Service Animals: No

Audio: The pre-show is entirely audio based. There is a little bit of narration at the launch of the ride but just music during the ride.

Weight and Size Issues: For a roller coaster the vehicles are surprisingly roomy and all but the largest of guests should be able to ride.

Parenting Information

Height Restriction: 48" (122 cm.) to ride.

Child Swap: Yes

Other Issues: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is a loud, intense experience in the dark. Even if your child is officially tall enough you'll want to be sure that they are ready for it. There are several bright flashes of light and strobing lights throughout the ride and three inversions (a full loop and a corkscrew).

History and Trivia

  • At this location: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is the first public use of this area.
  • The Attraction's History: The attraction remains essentially unchanged from when it opened in 1999.
  • Other Trivia:
    • That's fast: The top speed achieved by the roller coaster, immediately after launch is 57 miles per hour, in just under 3 seconds.
    • Not quite the first: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was not Disney's first ride with an inversion. That honor goes to the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland Paris, which opened in 1993. Since Rock 'n' Roller coaster three other rides with inversions have been constructed: Space Mountain 2 (Disneyland Paris), California Screamin' (Disney's California Adventure), and the Disneyland Paris version of Rock 'n' Roller, which has an identical track layout.
